HLN’s Robin Meade Morning Express continues to grow and succeed. We talked to Meade about the ratings, her boss’ exit and a new career path – music. We have a preview of her first song too. Meade rocketed HLN’s morning show to #2 on cable news in the demo during the third quarter of 2010, and was up 10% year-to-year – the only program to grow in that category. It was the sixth consecutive quarter that HLN beat MSNBC’s Morning Joe in the demo, and the 18th consecutive month. “We’re allowed to basically say what the viewer is thinking,” Meade told Mediaite last week. “In a morning show situation, that has equated to ratings because viewers identity with that.”And that's why we (and a lot of other viewers) appreciate Robin and her team. They have real - human reactions, not some corny chit-chat segway.
And her success continues as the November ratings indicate another strong month...
With its more entertainment-focused programming, HLN had its own niche during a politics-heavy month. Once again, its morning program “Morning Express with Robin Meade” was the standout, finishing second only to “Fox & Friends” in the key demo.
Total Day: 251K total viewers/108K A25-54
Primetime: 397K total viewers/127K A25-54
“Morning Express” was the highlight, topping CNN’s American Morning and MSNBC’s Morning Joe in the key 25-54 demo.
